New Canaan: Fairfield County's Architectural Village
New Canaan is a town of roughly 21,000 residents in Fairfield County, defined by its architectural legacy -- home to Philip Johnson's Glass House National Trust site, a strong concentration of mid-century modern residential architecture throughout the wooded estate areas, and a downtown Elm Street district that serves as the social center for one of Connecticut's most accomplished communities. The New Canaan Nature Center, Waveny Park, and a series of private clubs form the recreational backbone of the town.
Your Luxury Limo has served New Canaan since 2016. Westchester County Airport (HPN) is the right airport for New Canaan clients -- approximately 25–40 minutes via the Merritt Parkway east to I-684 south to the Hutchinson River Parkway south. For domestic flights, we always recommend HPN over JFK. For international travel, JFK via the Merritt to I-95 south takes 80–120 minutes depending on hour.
The Merritt Parkway (Route 15) is the signature road of this part of Fairfield County -- stone-arch bridges, wide wooded medians, and historically no commercial traffic. It is also the most reliable route to HPN and a faster alternative to I-95 for many Manhattan-bound morning runs.
Routes from New Canaan: Merritt, HPN & JFK
From New Canaan's estate areas (South Avenue, Carter Street, Oenoke Ridge): east or west on the Merritt Parkway (Route 15) based on destination. For HPN: Merritt east to Exit 37 (Stamford/Greenwich) → I-684 south → Hutchinson River Parkway south to Airport Road. For Manhattan: Merritt west to I-95 south → Henry Hudson Parkway or Cross Bronx. For JFK: I-95 south → LIE east → Van Wyck south. New Canaan Center (Elm Street) is reached via Route 123 or Oenoke Ridge to downtown, approximately 5–8 minutes from most estate addresses.
